Free the 5 Vigil

Next 12th September will be 15 years since the imprisonment of the Cuban 5.

The Free the Cuban Five Irish Campaign will mark the anniversary with a vigil outside the GPO, from 6:00 p.m.  At a crucial time in the struggle for their freedom and return home, we are asking to show your support by attending this vigil, which in Ireland will also be a tribute to the late Bernie Dwyer, who worked tirelessly for their cause.

Rene González, the first of the five to complete his term and who is back in Cuba thanks to the huge pressure from international public opinion, has launched the initiative of asking people attending the events worldwide to wear a yellow ribbon, and some very prominent Cuban musicians have just recorded this version of the song “Tie the yellow ribbon in the old oak tree”, which will also be used in  events marking the occasion both in Cuba and internationally.

Spare an hour to the cause of these men and join us at the vigil on the 12th.
