Celebrations transformed into demonstrations
the Ministry of Interior Affairs of France refuses to sign the release of Georges Abdallah.
Thursday 10th January 2013, the French Appeal court granted the Lebanese Communist militant Georges Ibrahim Abdallah his long awaited freedom, after a long judicial struggle led by Abdallah for his release, under the condition of being deported to Lebanon as soon as liberated.
This latter decision of release conditioned by the judgment of expulsion remained suspended by the signing of deportation order by the French Ministry of Interior Affairs, formally scheduled before January 14th2013.
Today, January 14th, the French Minister of Interior Affairs, Manuel Valls, refused to sign the release of Abdallah, postponing the decision to the 28th of January 2013, following the latest pressure and statements declared by the United States condemning the release of Abdallah, labeling this decision as outrageous and dangerous to national security.
George Abdallah detained in French prisons for 29 years now and releasable since 1999, was held captive in 1984 based on a politico-judicial plot supported by the imperialistic regimes, for his struggles in the Palestinian cause.
ULDY-Union of Lebanese Democratic Youth, who has been in direct contact with George Ibrahim Abdallah, struggling for his freedom for the past seven years, stresses on having this struggle for freedom and dignity, calling for an immediate mobilization towards the French Embassy in solidarity with Abdallah, demanding the French government to implement the judicial decision taken in court in the 10thJanuary.
29 years have failed to break the resistance of George Ibrahim Abdallah, nor to restrain the fierce struggle for his freedom, & now we must fight hand in hand to prevent the upcoming couple of weeks from dragging indefinably to suppress justice.
Freedom to George Ibrahim Abdallah.
